p.1 #1Sony Pre-capture
I watched a video on the A7V this morning, and it covered pre-capture; the person stated the camera had to be in mechanical shutter. Is this the case with other Sony bodies such as the A1II? Thanks.

The video is wrong.
I have both the a9III and the a7V, both are using electronic shutter all the time,
and I have used pre capture quite a bit.

That is not true. Precapture works in ES.
In fact that video has it totally backwards. Precapture ONLY works in ES. It doesn't work in MS.

I'm glad I asked. I want to program a button for it, so I was going to make it a sequence setting. Thanks.
