Official price before tax is 110K yen. Price at Fujiya Camera is 103320 JPY including tax. There's no listing at Map Camera yet but price should be same as at Fujiya Camera.
I'm planning to get one of these (to be adapted on my A7CII) as I was quite impressed with the lens when I tried a prototype / demo version at CP+.

It helps that JPY is at it's lowest in 40 years against USD in most recent times... I was expecting the price to be roughly at this level (or even slightly less) in JPY terms. I'm going to preorder as soon as Map Camera has their listings up.

Not sure if MTF for this lens has been shared here before:
TBH, I was hoping/expecting a bit higher and more horizontal at high lp/mm, but looking forward to real-world photos. Those you shared from CP+ definitely looked promising!

The hood is a nice touch and good to see hood caps becoming popular. A lot of extension but..close focus. It's a little stronger than the 50/3.5. A lot of APD glass, 75% of the lens. All spherical elements. 235 grams..

Wow, that's USD 580.00 pre-tax. I'm guessing it will retail for $699 on this side of the Pacific.
It looks like official Cosina price for Apo-Ultron 90/2 is 120K yen while this 90/4 is 110K yen. APO-Ultron seems to be $899 in U.S. so this might not land as low as $699 in comparison to that. Might end up at $799 or something like that.

I might be off by at least $100.
The 75/2.8 sells for about $450 pre-tax in Japan and retails here for $699. The 90 is about 30K Yen more, so maybe it will be intro-priced more around $800-850.

Nice of you to admit your errors, Ron. Such integrity is pretty rare these days. CV Pricing, they are generally a couple hundred above the Chinese M lenses.
Google AI (I'm lazy) gives us a wide potential, so it won't be wrong:
'it is expected to land in the $800 to $1,200 AUD range' so in US dollaros, $560 to $840. Well worth it, for the target audience, and likely to find a fond place in the hearts of many landscapers and others besides, of course. A super-corrected f4 short telephoto will retain value well too.

I want one. It's tough to add. I have an overabundance of short teles and zooms that are at, near, or cover the focal length, including ones that focus closer. I'll have to wait until I've got time clear and rent one.

Today I'll be saying a fond farewell to my APO-Skopar 90mm f/2.8 and putting it up for sale.

I will definitely be getting this lens. I just have to decide if I can wait a bit to let the used price go down as I typically do. This lens is most similar to the 50 f/3.5 APO Lanthar in performance, or so it looks. Both have 10 aperture blades, both achieve close focus but don't include a floating elements design, both have no aspherical elements, both have quite similar MTF charts, and both have a slower max aperture.
All of these parameters are different from the f/2 APO Lanthars (28, 35, & 50) which have 12 aperture blades, achieve close focus with a floating elements design, have 2 aspherical elements, have a bit higher MTFs in the outer part of the frame at best aperture, and of course have the faster aperture.
Personally I am fine with all the parameters of this len and don't worry about any of them for my usage of it.
TBH, I was hoping/expecting a bit higher and more horizontal at high lp/mm, but looking forward to real-world photos. Those you shared from CP+ definitely looked promising!
Keep in mind Cosina here does 10, 30, & 40 lp/mm in these charts, so the middle line will be a bit lower than Zeiss or Leica that do 10, 20, & 40 lp/mm (Leica adds a pretty useless 5 lp/mm as well) and almost 90% contrast at 30 lp/mm and above 80% contrast at 40 lp/mm in the center is fantastic performance. In the center at f/4 this lens actually has higher MTF than the new and exceptionally performing new Otus 85 ML f/1.4 (and this lens is wide open and that lens is stopped down 3 stops), which Cosina also makes. So, I can't see how expectations of higher performance in the center are reasonable.
It is true the lines are not horizontal and performance drops a bit across the frame, but personally I am very happy with 60% contrast at 40 lp/mm at the edges and in the corners. We do get a little better performance stopping down to f/5.6, so I probably will but overall I am very happy with the MTFs and I think the center performance is exceptional.
Compared to the Leica M 90 f/4, which is a really nice lens and performs great, this lens is sharper in the center (65% contrast vs. 80% contrast) and just as sharp in the edges and corners with less astigmatism. Yeah, the Leica MTFs are flatter but that is because the center performance is no better than the edge and corner performance if you don't factor in the astigmatism, which is pretty strong. Said another way the tangential line is flat for the Leica M 90 f/4 and stays above 60% contrast, but the sagittal line drops to 40% contrast. I would much rather have both lines drop from 80% contrast to 60% contrast and stay similar in performance than have one line drop and the other stay flat indicating lateral CA and astigmatism that will affect performance in the edges and corners. Still I have used the Leica 90 f/4, and I think you have too Ron, and I have no issues with it performance, but this lens by the MTFs looks even a bit better.
