According to SAR article.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this one performs. Could be a nice combo with the 20-70mm G.

Love the new look (and aperture ring!)

Saw this the other day and felt the same. Really hoping it's everything they said in the write up and not too big.

Hmm...looks nice. Definitely a lot smaller and lighter than the Sony 12-24GM, but still not light at 570 grams. It would certainly be a good companion for my 35-150 for vacations/landscape. If the quality of the images can equal my combo of Viltrox 14/4 (an extremely good lens and super light) plus my exceptional Sigma 24/3.5, I may take a hard look at it replacing them.

Nice range for aps-c, too. A bit hefty there, maybe.

I doubt it'll replace the Sigma 10-18/2.8 for many people.

If it's anything like Tamron's 11-20mm f2.8 RDX for Canon RF-S, then it's definitely a gem worth buying. I had the 11-20mm f2.8 RDX on my Canon R7, and it outperformed my R7.

Interesting as it could replace my VC 12mm FE mount and the 16-35 Sony PZ. I'd have a 20-24mm gap before the 24-50mm kicks in but I think I can live with that, and if their press info is to be believed it might pass for astro.

Wow, is this the next generation of Tamron lens design? Looks fantastic. I'm guessing the G3s with aperture rings aren't too far off, hoping they bump up the build quality a bit.

Really liking what I'm seeing of this lens though, rear filter holder is great and 12 blades as well. It's a rumored press release though, so keeping expectations tempered.

My enthusiasm is squashed a bit, now that the price is revealed: $1699.

Looks like I'll be sticking with my trusty 12mm VC.

The 12-24 sony 2.8 is $3250. I prefer the sony, but 1700 seems like a bargain alternative to me.

Half the price, half the weight, vs GM.

Man, tempting for my Winds backpacking trip. I was thinking Viltrox 14 f4, 20-70, and 70-200 f4 macro, but this makes me think about Tam 12-20 and Tam 25-200 or older 28-200. Decisions decisions

I notice some magenta shading in the corners on some of the DPReview samples, but it's a bit less obvious when I pull it into Lightroom and use the default Adobe Color profile.

Definitely a tempting combination of focal length and aperture. Personally, it's going to come down to how it does at 12mm at f2.8. If it has noticeably better IQ than the Sony 12-24mm f4 at 12mm at f4 I may pick it up.

I am happy to see Tamron add aperture / control rings to their lenses. But I can't help but feel like something looks off about the new styling. Maybe the groves should have been finer to match the focus and zoom rings?

I suspect the grooves are to give you tactile feedback on which ring you are touching. Coming from someone who shoots a lot of different brand lenses across multiple systems, it often hard to rely on muscle memory alone as to what ring is where.

Granted the tactile feedback doesn't fully solve that either, but maybe it helps.

As others said...go get a 12-24 or 14-24 flagship and see how bad you're hurting then

I own the Sigma 14-24mm, this lens peaked my interests and I'm glad Tamron is headed this direction with their lens line. I really like the idea of locking down the long/wide end of the lens.

I was curious to see what I would gain and lose from a coverage standpoint. Passing this on.

It doesn't make sense for me to sell the Sigma and buy this lens but if I were in the market, I'd likely purchase one.

I have the Sony 12-24mm f4 G, Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 S, and Sigma 14mm f1.4. So far, I have managed to avoid adding the 12-24mm f2.8 GM, but it's tempted me a few times.

Sony Australia is usually really good on prices, often much better than US prices and way cheaper than Canon and Nikon rip-offs, but the 12-24 f/2.8 has remained stubbornly high at $4900AU even dearer than the Nikon 14-24 f/2.8. The Tamron is $2900 on day 1 and will be way cheaper in 6 months I reckon like all Tamron lenses. I paid $2KAU for the 12-24 f/4G and if the Tamron gets down to about $2KAU on sale in next 12 months I might swap.
