Giorgio was an extraordinary colleague and friend. I took this photo in Lisbon in September 2005, when we attended a scientific conference. Those were good years. A few years later, he passed away due to an incurable illness, leaving an unfillable void.
On a lighter note, on that trip I’d only taken a compact camera (Coolpix 5400) with me. Despite its 5 Mpix, tiny sensor and a dynamic range well below today’s standards, I printed that photo in A3 format and achieved surprisingly good results.
One might think you had Fred Delmare—an East German actor who was extremely popular in his day—in front of your lens!
