I realize I may be the last one to discover this update, but for those who may not have heard about it...
With the a7Rvi, Sony made some fantastic improvements to the ability to save and recall camera settings. It's a feature I used a lot with earlier generations (and one I sorely missed when shooting the Nikon Z8, with its oddly crippled 'banks' feature).
But having only three internally-stored memories on the earlier Sonys was always a little constricting.
Now, thanks to that little asterisk on the mode dial, there's easy access to ten sets. Plus, they are stored internally, rather than on the card (where they are too easy to erase). And...they can be named, which I find extremely handy.
