Just recently there have been a couple of additional things added to the main screen in PS. At least on my screen.
Above the "recent" section there is now two more sections. They both kinda look and feel like AI generation suggestions. The top one says "prompt to edit - Image to video - ideate with boards". (Ideate?...what's that?) The next section says "Featured" and apparently offers suggestions on how to "explore the best of PS....how to rotate an image...expand an image".
Then there is the old "recent" section....most recent 20 files opened.
Any idea where the top two AI sections came from and....most important.....how do I get rid of those two sections?? It's almost like being forced to use AI.
I turned the new type (default) screen off a long time ago, so my default screen is completely blank. These may be the Preferences settings; I honestly don't want to change them to try
General : Turn ON Use Legacy New Doc
Notifications : Turn ON Enable Quiet Mode and turn Tooltips OFF
Also, you can change the recent file list # in File Handling. I set mine down to 2 as I was getting slow startups if my saves had been to a slow HD (I guess it goes and looks at them on startup)
Temporary toggle between "old" Home screen and "new"(ish) Home screen:
Click the 'Ps' icon in the upper-left (between the 'traffic light' and New File). This will display the old Ps Home Screen.
To go back to the New Home screen, click the house silhouette in the upper-left (right under the traffic light)
I originally thought it was Preferences>General, then unchecking Use Legacy New Document Interface, but that made no difference.

You may need to close and re-open PS

Thanks for the suggestions mcbroomf. Unfortunately I still get the extra 2 "windows".

Sorry GoodEgg, but I don't see the traffic light you're talking about. When I click the blue-on-black PS icon in the upper left corner it takes me directly to the workspace screen. If it makes a difference, I'm using the 27.8.0 release of PS.

That worked on my screen but my old home screen is blank (all my tools are on a 2nd screen). No traffic lights here as that is a MacOS thing and I'm Windows
The "AI" and "Featured" panels are part of the "Home" screen. No way to modify it that I've found. You can stop the "Home" screen from appearing though.
Edit -> Preferences -> General -> Uncheck "Auto Show the Home Screen"
Open and close a file. Home will stay hidden unless you click on the upper left home icon. Clicking the "Ps" icon opens whatever workspace you have set under Window -> Workspace.
