Anyone gotten there hand on the new RF II lens dust cap yet? I placed an order the first day they were announced, but nothing yet. Apparently the deliver date got pushed back, although the email I received from B&H advised that they don't know when they are getting them (only showing back ordered). Curious to know if anyone here has actually gotten theirs yet. If so, is it less frustrating to use than the older cap?

I assume Canon will keep making new RF lenses and those will be supplied with the new caps. It might take a while to fill all the spare cap buyers, but it's mostly a one-time activity.
Perhaps Canon is selling them too cheaply.
Based on the description of the new cap, it's exactly what Jan Wegener showed on YouTube. I made my own "V2 caps" more than a year ago by violating them with a screwdriver. I don't think I need to pay $7 for that.
All my caps are modified like in the Wegener video, an easy modification and they work great.
On a side note, the RF caps fit perfectly on the back of the EF lenses, and I have switched to using only the RF caps to avoid having 2 types of back caps. (yes, I do have several legacy lenses in use)
Also, btw, in a pinch the EF lens caps do fit on RF lenses, just feel a bit tight. Don't think it does any damage to the RF lens and does seem to keep out dust, but I don't do it. But good to know if you short on RF caps and need a plan B.
Would it make sense to replace all the RF-EF adapter rear caps and just leave the adpaters on the lenses? I cannot image ever using any of a dozen+ EF bodies again.
For those who have done the modification, is it necessary to remove the entire length of the longer bayonet flange?
Jan's video shows that it's possible to lift up one edge of the cap while mounted. I am wondering if it is possible to remove just enough of the flange to allow free mounting while still providing some grip.
Yes. Trying the other 2 "non-standard' positions the cap bayonet will always collide with the lens bayonet. Even though you can lift the one area where the bayonet is removed the caps fits nice and tight. I love using the modified caps.
