While I don't have the camera: better, but not good. The readout in ES is at about 1/60s and that is still in range of even AC induced flicker.
Yes, that is what I am expecting also. It would be good to hear what users' experiences are actually like in the real world for different types of LED lights and in different shooting situations.
The situations that matter the most to me personally are home LED lights and LED lights in public places like stores and museums.
I wonder if the camera is in enough hands to get feedback on this yet.
p.1 #4 · The A7RVI & Banding with LED Lighting & Electronic Shutter?
Any readout speed slower than the cycling rate of lights will produce banding. The closer this slower readout speed is to the light's cycling rate, the fewer the bands of light that will be visible. At 1/51, the a7rVI will exhibit banding in all artificial lighting scenarios including incandescent (non-LED lighting) - the only way to minimize this effect is in situations where the shutter speed can be reduced to the speed of the cycling light, which many solutions don't allow.
You can read about how banding manifests and how it relates to the cycling rate of light in the explainer section of my rolling-shutter readout project on GitHub:
