I was tempted for sunrise, but couldn't convince the fam to get up that early. Really cool place. Would love to go back and camp out and hike the full Sliding Sands trail.

, I know how that goes! Normally when I go up, it's me and a friend, and our wives are staying warm in the condo. Overnight up there is "cold AF", no other way to put it. And windy. Last time I went up, we got to the summit at about 02:30, did some night sky photography, warmed up and slept a bit in the car and finally shot before and through the sunrise. I'd do it again. You do need a special permit to be up there for sunrise now, which is probably a good thing as the crowds at sunrise were getting unreasonable.
