Three frames.
That's all this little dude gave me.
Then he bolted.
I waited around for a little while to see if he might return.
He did not.
Since the bugs were eating me alive while I was waiting,
I had to abandon the anticipation of his return.
It was still fun though!

great set of pics of a beautiful subject. like how they show the detail of the body with the wing blur. well worth the aggravation from the bugs. good job!

I'm watching a pair of these chase each other around on my back porch right now. It's crazy how much there is to those lil guys.

Lovely captures Larry!
With Morris #1 for the wing position. Perhaps a little more push to lift shadow at the head or exposure+ overall for the dynamics
Excellent captures!

Best way to have them around is to have a feeder and a good mix of sugar water.

Thanks Wendall. The fact there was no breeze made the bug situation worse.

Thanks for looking.
I am surprised how they will buzz me while I'm on the patio pretending to be a grill master.

Thanks for your input Karl. I agree that the "middle tones" would benefit from a slight adjustment.

Thanks for the suggestion guywithgas..
There is actually a feeder with sugar water just outside of frame.

You clearly haven't reached the full level of addiction to bird photography yet. If you had, you wouldn't have let the bugs stop you

I've found when there are lots of bugs around the hummers are focussed on them and pretty much ignore my feeder. Of course it's much more challenging to photograph them when they're chasing bugs than when they're hovering around a feeder.
