I haven't used it in the field yet, but it seemed pretty comfortable when I unpacked it and sat on it at home. Obviously, no back support, so if you need/want that, you're probably looking at some kind of beach/camping chair. I learned about these on an Alaska photography trip a couple of years ago, where one of the older gentleman, whose back issues caused discomfort when standing in a single place for a long time, had one. The big benefit there was that it didn't sink into the mud when we were on the mud flats photography grizzlies clamming. The shoulder strap on his broke during that week, so his comment was: it might not be that durable, but the price is right.

Thanks for the suggestion vbnut. I did see those while searching and wondered how durable they might be.
I currently have an aluminum frame collapsible "directors chair" that I use when photographing dogs out in the field. It works pretty well for that. It also works here in the front/back yard.
When I can muster up enough gumption up to explore one of the local parks I'll see how it works there.
