Like so many others here I grew up with film and kept a makeshift darkroom for years. I always find it a fun exercise to go back into my files and search for images that I feel might convert well. Not all of them do. All input is welcome on what works and what doesn't.

A delight to view Gary. 1, 4, 5, 7, 9 - Last are the standouts for me. This might be my pregidice for contrast though sometimes a lack of contrast can be stunning.
I have always had a soft spot for B&W, maybe less so for wildlife than other subjects (landscape, architecture), but you did a nice job on this excellent selection. The bears and the terns don't work that well for me but overall great work.

I've often found that a B&W conversion can be much more impactful than the color version. It can sometimes better present the image in its best and most basic element - proper exposure.
Light illuminates, shadows define. B&W imagery tells no lies.

Thanks Paul. Yup, I keep coming back to it. I'd really like to get to the point where I can teach myself to start seeing scenes in B&W at capture. As you say, the balance between light and shadow. I'm not sure I have the discipline for that though
I used Nik Silver Efex for these.
