p.1 #1 · Red-winged blackbirds attack Great egrets
It was a tough day for the Great egrets at the Marine Nature Study Area in Oceanside, NY. The marsh is absolutely full of RWBB nests and it's the most I've ever seen there. The Red-winged blackbirds are all aggressively defending the marsh in typical blackbird faction. At one point I saw three blackbirds attacking a Great egret at the same time and that pore bird looked very frustrated. The first 4 images were taken early afternoon and the last 5 later in much nicer light. You can see the heat shimmy in the background of my images yet for the ones here I was able to get crisp enough images.
Comments and suggestions welcome,
