Opened in 2007, The Veterans’ Glass City Skyway is a landmark for Toledo Ohio. It allows traffic to move efficiently on I-280. The 8,800’ long urban viaduct structure features a cable-stayed main span unit consisting of a single pylon centered between 612’-6” spans and a single plane of stays. The project encompasses 1.25 million square feet of bridge, approaches, ramps, and gore areas. During FIGG Bridge Design Charettes™, community participants expressed a desire to pay tribute to the city’s heritage of glass production; thus, the top 200’ of the pylon is faced in LED back-lit glass.
