I think I may have to investigate this lens a little further.
It does start a 24, which I love for shooting cars, so it has that going for it.
If it's light weight that would also be a good thing.

To me the beauty of 24-50 G is that it is @50mm when collapsed. If you use mostly 24mm wide end you might find this a little annoying.

Thanks for that info.

Yes, I use a Hex ranger mini dslr sling bag with this stabilizer strap: https://www.etsy.com/listing/564906330/universal-camera-stabilizer-strap?ref=elp_anchor_listing&frs=1

The bag fits the a7cR and lenses up to the Tamron 25-200 size perfectly.

Great shots. I assume you're biking along as well? What's you set up on the bike for the camera? I've been thinking about how I do this with mountain biking.

Hi.

I have a question for you experienced folk who have the 24-50mm f2.8, from an amateur!

I just bought a new sony 24-50mm f2.8 for my a7v

I am normally a prime shooter, and only recently have "discovered" some zooms can be just as good quality. I recently used the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 ii and Sony 24-70mm f2.8 GM 2. They are awesome lenses, but too heavy for general walkabout for me.

I have just purchase a new Sony 24-50mm f2.8.

I am a little surprised about the contrast and sharpness increase between f2.8 and f4 at 50mm close up.

Just wondered if others who have this lens have experienced the same performance difference, and if this is normal for this lens. I did see similar results on phillipreeve.net's review.

Apologies for the quality of the chart, but I think you can see what I mean. The first three pictures are in the order of f2.8, f4 and f5.6. So is the second set of the brass vase. They are all pixel level crops. I have let lightroom apply standard lens profiles, but not sharpening, contrast or any other adjustments have been added.

Finally had a day out with this lens and my α7Cr. I still prefer using my 40mm G but that's just because I like that lens a lot. The 24-50mm G performed well and adds convenience. I'm glad I picked it up for a trip this fall.
