Northern flicker

This Northern flicker landed right in front of me as I walked along the trails at the Oceanside Marine Nature Study Area on Long Island. I had just enough time to get down low before it blasted off. The tip of the beak was cropped off in the last image yet I was able to repair it.

What a handsomely patterned little guy Morris! I like how it's undermarking's transform from round to heart shaped, heh. That salvaged shot came out great too.

way to go, morris. nice set of pictures of a beautiful bird. this is one of the hardest birds for me to get pictures of in the wild. they are very skittish where i am. my best chance is when they come to feeders by our deck. thanks for sharing.
