This color release looks much better than I anticipated. Unfortunately, the new price of the M11-P is so astronomical, that I don't even consider it a viable option. In fact, I think the Q3 has now been priced at a point where it no longer seems to be a reasonable option for anyone but those with the deepest of pockets.

I'd love to buy one of these, but I've chosen to put the 11K into a trip instead upgrading my 24MP M to the 60MP sensor. Much like my timing for when I bought my Leica M (typ240), I might need to wait a decade (+) before I'm prepared to get the M11... With all of that said, this may be my favorite color combination that they have released thus far.

cheers,
bruce

it's gorgeous. That said, with my silver M11P that works flawlessly and is almost as gorgeous, and also the M12 around the corner, I'll pass on this one.

Good on LLL for inspiring Leica to go make an easy extra few grand from a few dentists.

Also, your silver M11-P uses a brass top plate, while I believe this new gray version may use aluminum, though I could be wrong on that.

Good point about the M12 possibly being around the corner. In the past, the Safari special editions often came near the end of a generation cycle. This time feels a bit different since the M11-P Safari was not strictly numbered "limited" edition, but more as a version produced based on demand.

We've also seen the Chicago Edition 17 and the 100 Years of Leica City editions, and now this gray finish, so Leica does seem to be maximizing profit as much as possible as it approaches the end of the M11 line.

Because of that, I would not be surprised if we see the M12 announcement soon, possibly even within this year.

Agree, these look really nice. What's interesting is the 50 APO is identical spec wise to the current version, plenty of rumors have been swirling for the past year that a close focus version was going to be released either late last year or early this year. Looks like they'll milk the current version for at least the remainder of this year now

Why do we need a new APO? Leica just needs to change colors more often.

New lens releases now include 'close-focus' live view capability, and many expect the 50mm f/2 Summicron-APO will eventually be updated with similar functionality, so not just a finish change.

Because of that, paying close to $10K for this "gray" version could end up being questionable (unless you really like the gray metal finish) if a revised version shows up soon with improved functionality at a similar price point.

You're right, the gray version is aluminum top plate (net weight 463gms). I'll know for sure in a couple of days

Congrats! Would love to pull the trigger but just can't justify it.

They also released a matching grip and battery with the metal gray finish. The black battery could have matched the aesthetics just fine I think considering the knobs are black.

It's a small detail, but Leica matched the same gray tone on the viewfinder accents.

FYI according to ChatGPT

The silver Leica M11-P weighs about 640 g with battery and about 565 g without battery.

Yes — the silver M11-P has a brass top plate. Leica’s spec says the silver version uses a full-metal housing made of magnesium and brass

Many will disagree, but I actually think the silver finish looks a lot nicer. It was always my first choice for the Leica M, even though currently I've ended up with glossy black paint and safari versions instead....

Wait, I do have the M3 silver.

What's interesting is that the Leica M11-P 'Silver' currently costs more than the new Metal Gray version, at least in the US right now.

It's a shame they did not use the brass top plate on the gray - I would've considered it if they did - I have th aluminum M11 and a M6 with a brass top plate - the brass feels much better. I tried a silver M11 in a store and if I could've, would've gotten the brass one.

In times of yore, this just as well would have been called "gunmetal grey".

It's a nice look, this finish.

Alphagvrd- Are you listening? I need metal grey for my M262 and Q2. Wouldn’t be the same but would work for my budget.
