I just purchased this lens. I am just curious as to what others think of it? After a few test shots, I am pleasantly surprised at how sharp the corners are when compared to my older Tokina 17mm prime and my Nikon 20 f/2.8 AF-D lens.
It's an awesome lens, and has been my most used lens to date! Wonderful on any 24 megapixel camera, probably even the 36 megapixel cameras. I was sad when it couldn't quite resolve the Z8's 46 megapixels. It was hard to find a replacement! Nikon hasn't made any lens for the Z mount that matches the focal range and wider aperture of this gem. The Z 14-30mm f/4 is the closest thing, but somehow never felt like a true replacement for it.
I have one for hiking. I'm a big fan of the lens. I chose it for the Z8 over the Z-mount alternatives for a handful of reasons. Mostly compatibility with my F-mount cameras, but also its generally light weight and internal zooming. Even on an FTZII, it's apparently only ~25 grams heavier than the 14-30.
I've been impressed with how well it compares to my alternatives.
