If you have access to the Globe and Mail, a Canadian newspaper, there's a lovely profile today of a 14-year old named Madison who finds tremendous fulfillment in bird photography.
Bird photography is not my thing, but what she's doing looks really good.
I bet she would enjoy the heck out of reading comments on that story from bird photographers like the folks who come to this forum on FM. Unfortunately you need a subscription to leave a comment.

The next time someone asks me why interest in photography is disappearing among young people, I'm going to show them your response.
Great. Maybe unlike you they will learn to follow the rules on a private website that are there for the benefit of the majority of members.
You could also teach them that this site is divided into different forums to make it more convenient and pleasing for members to navigate. Sort of like a school library having books placed in the proper categories. If you know how a library works.

Hi Rob...
Sometimes doing something worthwhile and heartwarming such as your post of this article goes off the rails. It's a shame.
A quote from Robert A. Heinlein seems appropriate:
"I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them."
I was able to find a way around the paywall issue. What a wonderful world we live in if we're given a chance.
