Can't even find a EU price here
Probably means it'll be very high! €16999 perhaps?
This is not entirely uniform across EU countries.
Beyond the currency (not everywhere uses the Euro), it also depends on the specific national VAT rates.
This is a key factor driving the price here—VAT in the EU is around 20%—though as a professional, you can deduct this VAT for tax purposes.
€15749 in Germany/France/the Netherlands.
For a professional with sufficient turnover, however, it ends up costing no more than the US price, thanks to the fact that the value-added tax can be deducted.
The price, excluding VAT, is then comparable to the US price.
Canon RF 100-300/2.8 L goes for €11999.
To my knowledge, Finland has a very high VAT rate (25,5%), which makes it more expensive there.
In general, Nikon products are more expensive in the Scandinavian countries—Sweden, Denmark, and Finland.
The price in the UK is also relatively high at £13999, at today’s exchange rate, that converts to €16729.
The issue with the Z 120-300/2.8 TC VR S is that it is unlikely to face downward price pressure anytime soon, as production volumes will probably not meet demand for quite some time.
This is different for other Nikon products, where significant price pressure tends to emerge after a certain period; for users who can afford to wait, prices here in the EU—even including the mandatory VAT—can become quite attractive.
Often even comparable to US net prices, despite the VAT.
Being an early adopter is almost always costly, especially when it comes to the high-end, expensive lenses in the Z lineup, this is especially true within the EU.

Is the US list price including or excluding tax? I imagine the tax might vary by state?
I remember having to adjust my thinking when visiting Canada (from NZ) that shop sticker prices there don't generally include tax, whereas here in NZ the sticker price is what you pay.

Joe McNally also reviewed the Nikkor Z 120-300mm F2.8 TC VR S today.
At 6lbs and $14,000 (too pricey for me) but looks incredible. I remember when it was announced some folks predicted $8000 and I was considering it.
All the reviewers are saying 6lbs is hand holdable? What about the weight of the Z8 or Z9? Maybe for a short time but certainly not hand holdable for extended wildlife and sports photography. The reviewers love to exaggerate...
