p.1 #1 · Best Contax lens adapters for Nikon Z, Leica M cameras?

I just picked up two Contax lenses (35/1.4, 100/2), and want to adapt them to my Leica M 240 and Nikon Zf. Can anyone recommend good quality adapters?

Novoflex is the best, and expensive—mine is the CY/E. The mating surfaces glide without binding. You can't go wrong with Kipon for mid-tier.

I'm a fan of Rayqual mount adapters (they strive to make them exactly accurate in terms of thickness, they use baffles etc. and the build quality is top level) but they may be difficult to find outside of Japan.

I have several of their adapters, including C/Y to E-mount for my 3 Kistar lenses that use C/Y mount.

Do you want focus aids on the Nikon? If so, you might want to got with a nice Contax C/Y to Leica M adapter and then get the Shoten Leica M to Z electronic adapter (or the TTartisans 6-bit adapter). It is a double adapter solution, but it allows you to have the focus aids on Nikon, that I find useful, and would let you keep the Contax C/Y to Leica M adapter on the lens.

Granted my novoflex was from many years ago, but my experience was novoflex was incredibly tight fitting to provide a secure lockup, but so tight it would eventually wear something out, and Rayqual is just the perfect tightness.

I'll second that take on Novoflex being incredibly tight-fitting, though not necessarily enough to cause damage. Just make you worry and pay attention if it clicked/unclicked on each use.

I'll also second the vote for Rayqual; I have their CY-to-Z, M-to-Z, OM-to-Z, and R-to-Z adapters. They're also reasonably nice looking, and blend in well with the 80s-ish lens barrel aesthetic.

That aside, I've found that general adapter quality has gone up quite a bit. I've actually struggled trying to find M-to-Z adapters that don't meet the spec exactly, and would allow me to focus beyond infinity - reached out to half a dozen brands, and even tried a few cheap $40 no-name ones, and they're all within spec.
