Old wheel

This old car was on the side of the road in a little town in New Mexico.

I thought it was interesting since I've never seen "threads" in wheels. Maybe someone can enlighten me about them.

Carol, that seem to be the weathered textile ply used in tire making. Are you missing the wooden spokes

? Looks like somebody made a custom tire for themselves. Great find.

Now for the challenge:

Is that an early Studebaker wheel, maybe a Big Six? Spokes are too thick and short for a Ford. Plus the six split rim lugs.
