p.1 #1 · Lightroom lens profile for Voigtlander VM 28mm f2.8 Color-Skopar ASPH

Hello,

I've just picked up the fabulously tiny and sharp 28mm CS. I've been trying to figure out which lightroom profile for lens correction would be best. The Summaron 5.6 seemed to be what folks were using based on the FM review thread for the lens but I'm finding that still leaves some distortion and vignetting. Lightroom has their own profiles for Voightlander obviously, but this newer version of 28 f2.8 is missing, there's only the SLII version. However, between that profile and the Ultron f2 profile, these seem to correct better.

Do people who have this lens just correct distortion and vignetting manually or is there a magic profile that seems to work best in lightroom?

I tested all the Leica 28mm 6-bit codes to see which one reduces vignetting the most, and it turns out to be the Leica 28mm f/5.6 Summaron. That makes it the most effective option overall. The Leica 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit code also reduces vignetting quite a bit, just not to the same extent.

Personally, I'd go with the Elmarit code. It's a 28/2.8, so it's a more natural match for the Voigtlander 28mm f/2.8 Color-Skopar, both in name and in how well it performs with that lens.

Brilliant, thank you Fred. I think I’ll have a play with the those two and compare against the +3 manual distortion correction that was also suggested. I’m not highly concerned with the vignetting as I shoot at f5.6 or f8 usually. A special thanks to your thorough review of the CS, Fred!

Cheers!
