p.1 #1 · In Days of Old When Men Were Bold...

From back in the day when writing and reading were considered suitably Manly things to do, rather than being preening I'm-such-a-victim idiots. (Ok, fair enough, Hemingway did plenty of preening, but he was no victim-playing idiot.)

First image: Hemingway's writing desk (Key West).
Second image: Jack London's desk (a repost from last year - I thought these would be interesting together).

London seems like more of a messy person
But I like his desks... I like Hemingway's typewriter and would like one like it.

IDK about today’s men preening any more than any other period, but damn, EH could write, about anything.

“As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy and to make plans.”

Who else could put Hope and oysters together?

These are nicely handled shots of interiors in what looks like natural light. The natural processing is appreciated. Mind sharing what camera and lens you used?

Greg

Both are with the Sony A7riii with PP in Capture One (only global adjustments though - if I had the time I'd make some improvements with a few masks...)
The Hemingway shot is with one of my favorite lenses, the CV 21/3.5 color skopar.
The London shot is with the Sony 24-105, shot at 48mm f4.

My teacher would have given me a D for using a "run on sentence"...

Your teacher must have graded on a bigger curve than mine.

Thank you Dan - this is great information, I had not known about that connection. I'll look it up sometime when I'm in the area!
