I had an opportunity to spend about 16 hours over a day and a half shooting Osprey a couple days ago. This is the first real chance I've had to try the OM-1 on some fast action. The only misses I had were the dive shots when the bird was just about to enter the water. I blame my lack of tracking skills for that more than the camera. I could track the bird just fine at the beginning of the dive against the sky but I consistently lost my subject when the bird hit the darker tree line in the background. I think it was a combination of two things; that's the time when the bird is moving extremely fast and also erratically as it adjusts to the movement of the fish. Secondly, the dark bird against the dark trees made it very hard to see in the viewfinder. But aside from that the OM-1 locked on focus extremely well. On some of the passing shots where the bird was in close I only had time to swing around, get the bird in frame, hit the AF ON button and let the camera do all the work and it very rarely missed. The lens kept up with the action but obviously has its limitations. Thanks for taking a look !

Incredible shots Gary! I love how you've really captured the detail in the whole scene. The shutter speed seems spot-on, the colors are rich, and the bokeh is nice. What focal length were you shooting at for these?
