I'm a bit uncomfortable making a processing suggestion to a shooter at your skill level, but I tried an adjustment on your image that consisted of dodging just the highlight area in the cat in order to selectively increase the contrast and to my eye it made the image even more striking. Just a thought. I'm sure you have your reasons for processing the way you did.

Absolutely no need to feel uncomfortable critiquing my work. I do it constantly, and wish others would do so more often. It's how we all learn and improve our art. Glad you took the time and effort to do so. Thanks!
I agree with with your idea of increasing the b/w contrast on the subject. It is needed, and would definitely enhance the subject. I attempted to do that in post, but backed off a bit out of caution.
