So what does this mean practically? You can use es on the r6 and not lose any image quality vs ms on the r5?

Here's the comparison of the a7rVI ES to the a7rV MS, which establishes whether or not the A7RM6 incurs a noise penalty for its stacked sensor. I also include the a7rVI MS to show the DGO improvement.
PDR: a7rVI MS 12.55EV vs a7rVI ES 11.40EV vs a7rV MS 11.69EV: noise penalty = 0.29EV
Input-referred read noise: a7rVI MS 0.59 e-(log2) vs a7rVI ES 1.44 e-(log2) vs a7rV MS 1.77 e-(log2): noise penalty = none, noise reduction of 0.33 e-(log2)
This is a bit puzzling - the a7rVI ES PDR shows a 0.29EV penalty vs a7rV MS, yet shows a 0.33 e-(log2) input-referred noise reduction. I would say the PDR "penalty" is within the margin of measurement error (ie no penalty), while the input-referred read noise "penalty" shows an actual a7rVI improvement of 0.33 e-(log2).
On balance I would say this indicates the a7rVI has no stacked-sensor noise penalty vs the a7rV.
It's noteworthy that the dual-conversion gain (DCG) switchover point changed. On the a7rV it was ISO 320, on the a7rVI it's ISO 640....Show more →

Based on Bill's data, correct, close to within the margin of error. I just pulled up Dpreview's ISO Latitude widget and their results indicate the a7rVI ES is worse than the a7rV MS, slightly outside the margin of error I'd say. Also conflicts slightly with Bill's input-referred read noise (although the PDR differences can be for other reasons like SNR, resolution normalization). I'm not at my desktop right now but when I am in a few hours I'll download the Dpreview raws to match sure they matched the exposures properly.
I want to mention that the camera can be combined with many different lenses for a $300 discount. It isn’t just the 100-400mm GM. I just called B&H and added a lens to the order that arrived today. Also, B&H is running a bundle with some lenses and teleconverter with $200 off the combination. You can’t take advantage of both promotions.. otherwise, I’m guessing the next “big” promotions will be for Black Friday…
Out of curiosity, I just checked BH and one of the local stores, they showed A7RVI in stock. I am a bit surprised given it's such a big improvement over the V in certain aspects. I may get one for Christmas. There isn't much for me to shoot with this camera in the next couple months.

Well, I guess that proves that Sony and Fuji are two distinctly different camera companies.
- Despite the small linear pixel increase over my A7RV, the images show noticeably more detail in subjects and I’m very pleased with what I’m seeing in the files.
- There is an obvious and inaccurate color cast to my LCD monitor on playback compared to the EVF, I’ll need to get into the menu and see if I can tweak the monitor color.
- The EVF experience is wonderful to me, big, bright, and highly detailed. I especially enjoy reviewing images through the EVF, it almost feels like looking at a print. This is something I missed when shooting the Z8.
- Sony bodys without a grip plate attached are too small for me, my pinky has nowhere to go. I’ll be glad when Smallrig has their baseplate available. I’m also going to try the Sony vertical grip.
- I’m happy to have the illumination button as I’ve had on a few Nikons. The setting allowing 3 different levels of brightness is a nice touch. Those who don’t want this can have an extra customized button.
- Battery life so far (and from reports) seems excellent. A few hours at the zoo along with reviewing and pixel peeping used only 11%.
Below is a cropped & processed image (about 20% of the linear width cropped out), then 100% pixel view. I don’t know how these uploads will translate in this post but viewing on my MBP the files are extremely detailed, sharp, and satisfying.

Do you have the SmallRigs extended base plate for the a7rV? I'm wondering if it could fit the a7rVI even without battery access. Do you have any info on when or if they will make that base plate.
I'm hoping the light button can do something like ES<->MS.

I do have the Smallrig for the A7RV. The contours do not line up with the new A7R6 body and forcing it on looks like there is potential to mar the surface of the camera (I tried it), and of course no battery access, so not a solution for me.
Preorder is up at Smallrig for the new A7R6 Arca plates, est. ship date June 30:
Can someone please explain this chart, is the chart showing there is a dynamic range dip at ISO 100? I thought ISO 100 was the base ISO, which would mean it would have the highest DR out of the entire ISO range? According to this chart I should shoot at ISO 50. I always thought ISO 50 was not base and extended and there for should only be used when absolutely needed.
