p.1 #1 · The Pink Feathered Jewel of Florida...Roseate Spoonbills
Congratulations to louie champan for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 3 votes - View Previous Winners
During my recent nine-day adventure in Florida, I was able to experience some of the diversity of wildlife that the state has to offer, but the true highlight was photographing the striking pink Roseate Spoonbills.
Sunrises at the rookery were unforgettable, alive with continuous displays of flight, courtship, and nest-building. I found myself surrounded not only by Rosies but also Great White Egrets, elusive Limpkins, Anhinga’s and the delicate Snowy Egrets. It was a true experience to photograph the stick gathering process and flights back forth across the water to the nesting rookery.
Here is just a small sample of the images I was able to photograph.

You hit this one out of the park, Louie.
These are just fantastic. Don't know if I could pick a favorite, they're all so good.
#4 really impresses me -- a great in flight shot and you managed to him without that branch in front of his eye.

Thanks very much Morris, they have always been one of my all time favorite birds. I was very fortunate on this trip, I found a place where I was shooting Rosies every morning.

Great set louie! I'll be stopping at the Orlando Wetlands next Thursday to shoot in the afternoon. I hope I can get 1/2 of what you posted.
Thanks very much, wish I was still down there. From all the reports I was hearing while in Florida the Orlando Wetlands was a hot spot with babies in the nests. Good luck and have fun.

Some beautiful light and captures here. I was in the Lakeland area last week but wasn't able to make it to Orlando Wetlands. Sharing a vehicle also meant I wasn't able to get out early so I'm jealous of the conditions you had.
