p.1 #2 · Coming back to Sony - Family Travel Kit Recommendations | |
You've had the A7Riv and A7C, so think that would have you familiar with the body size alternatives. I have an A7Riv and A6700 - haven't been to Disneyland for a while, at least not since adding the 20-70/4.
Disneyland, perhaps more than Disneyworld, is fairly compact, uses a lot of forced perspective, things can be closer than they seem, maybe needing wider angles than out on real streets, jungles, distant planets, etc. It's a visually rich environment, attention to architectural details, costuming, very tempting for "photography." The conflict is, are you there to take pictures or have a family together fun time? (Not you necessarily, it hits everyone. Also, there is life beyond Anaheim. What might be better for the Mouse may not be better everywhere else?) I like to suggest emphasize the family and visit over the photography over too much gear, etc.
Practical side. There are some lockers available around the resort so you don't have to carry all your stuff, all the time. But maybe not always convenient. A few rides are high motion and the "pouches" to hold things aren't huge. There can be some splashing, too. Small World and Pirates move kind of slowly, most of the other "dark rides" go fast and I'd suggest enjoying the rides as opposed to trying to keep up with taking pictures. Disney has Photopass (if they still call it that) photographers all over the park and they can take your pictures, will take pictures using your camera, etc. Not current on the price structure for that.
I did the 30/1.4 on an aps-c one visit, 45mm ff angle of view. I think that's kind of long for Disney. I'm a zoom user, mostly, but would probably suggest something wider. A few times I've tried a Samyang 24/1.8 around SoCal (but not Disney) on the A7Riv and A6700 and it worked well on both. If it were me and the choice was 24mm or 45mm for Disney, I'd take the 24mm in general. (I don't do environmental portraits much so you could prefer something else longer?) For zooms, I've used an 18-135 or 28-200 on aps-c and ff, that's what I have.
I haven't had my 20-70/4 to Disneyland. It's kind of compact compared to things like the 28-200. For me, in general, because I have some longer lenses, and aps-c kit, too, I would prefer the A7 sized bodies over the A7Cs as an "only" body. However, if expecting a lot of walking, mostly smaller lenses or maybe at some point as the second body, etc. there are some benefits to the smaller lighter bodies.
