Both are good yet I like the way the cattails are positioned in the background of the first. Even with a record cold winter, we had some RWBB stay on Long Island. Very strange.

That is strange. I've never seen one stay here in MN over winter, but they are usually one of the early arrivals for spring. We're going to be getting a blizzard this weekend, maybe they should have stayed away for another week
really nice set of pics. composition, details, lighting all spot on. we had our first male redwing blackbirds show up around the middle of February this year. females haven't made it yet. the males are busy claiming nesting sites for the females when they get here in northwest indiana. thanks for sharing.

I only saw one female on Saturday, so I'm sure ours are ready for arrival soon.
