p.1 #1 · How to get shutter count from Canon cameras.
I have a canon 77D, Canon 6D and a Canon 5D mark three. I have tried using the online tools for getting a shutter count, but no luck. Is there a way to get the shutter account from these cameras without having to buy an app? Thank You.
Shuttercount is a Mac program at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/shuttercount/id720123827?mt=12 is $9.99 (used to be free) and will show just the mechanical actuations. Shuttercount Pro is $19.99 and will show each of the mechanical and electronic actuations, seperately. I have used Shuttercount Pro for some time and like it.
It will also allow you to enter Copyright, Owner, etc. in their fields. It will set/sync the time from your computer, usefull for multiple cameras.

ShutterCount app on iphone is the only way to find out the mechanical shutter actuation count. There is a method of a program reading it off a photo from the sd card but that only tells you the total actuations including electronic.

With apologies I’m going to piggyback this with what I believe to be a relevant question. I’ve been using Shutter Count for over a decade. I’ve always wondered, since an independent app can find it, the shutter count is there in the camera, so why can’t/doesn’t Canon have that information readily available in the menus? Does anybody know? Thanks in advance.

There are thousands of metadata tags in the files that Canon hasn’t published. The shutter count is just one piece of the puzzle. No one knows why.
