I’m looking for a bit of advice from folks who’ve spent more time with M‑mount gear. I’m shooting with a Leica M11‑P and after trying a bunch of lenses I’ve settled on the APO‑Lanthar 28/2, the Ultron 35/1.7, and the APO‑Lanthar 50/2. The issue is that both the Ultron 35 and the APO‑Lanthar 50 show some front‑focus, and the behavior is pretty similar on both. The APO‑Lanthar 28/2, on the other hand, seems perfectly fine. Now I’m debating whether to get the rangefinder on the body calibrated, but I’m worried that if I tune it for the 35 and 50, it might throw off the 28/2. I’ve never dealt with this before, so I’m not sure what to expect. Has anyone run into something like this? Could it be that the 28/2 is simply less demanding because of its focal length, so a calibration tweak wouldn’t really affect it? Unfortunately, getting the lenses themselves calibrated isn’t an option here — nobody offers that service.
Thanks in advance for any tips or shared experience!
It has been my experience that Voigt lenses are often front-focusing.
I had my M11 professionally calibrated, checked it with several Leica lenses so it is not the culprit.
