hello, everyone. i am mostly a wildlife photographer who does some dabbling with landscapes. i have admired the photos that many contribute to this site and am encouraged by them to increase my efforts with landscapes. these are some that i have taken this winter. the first two are of lake michigan shelf ice. when i first moved to northwest indiana 35 years ago from tenn, i had never seen ice like this. these pictures show just a small amount. i have seen winters where the shelf ice extended to the horizon and beyond. the other pictures are from areas close to where i live. hope you enjoy them. criticism and critique are welcome. i still have quite a bit of learning to do in processing black and white landscapes.

It reminds of me to remember of cold and icy, and windy Michigan lake in winter season one I have visited. Nice horizonal alignment un perspective view
Hi Wendall. I spent most of my life in the PNW but move to Ohio in 2016 and I have come to appreciate the quiet, gentle beauty of the midwest, so I like seeing your images.
I enjoy the first one quite a bit. I do find that small bit of foreground snow layer on bottom left to be distracting and not adding to the composition so I would suggest slight crop from the bottom to eliminate it (you’ll still keep most of the brush which is a nice foreground layer but it will be a little cleaner) and I think that will strengthen the feel of this image, which has that simple, quiet, midwest winter beauty.
The 2nd to last image with snow-covered branches reaching over the creek is wonderful! And the monochrome conversion looks nice to my eye. Probably my favorite of the set.
