Inspired by a historically significant 1940s Double-Gaussian design, part of the SP-II lineage, paying homage to classic optics.
Enhanced Optical Performance
Refined for modern high-resolution digital sensors, with expanded coverage up to 44 ื 33 mm for full-frame imaging.
Advanced Optical Design
Incorporates achromatic elements to maintain balanced contrast and control aberrations across the frame.
Signature Rendering
Delivers atmospheric tonal transitions at f/2, moving to sharper clarity when stopped down, offering a unique and versatile character.
Craftsmanship
All optical and mechanical components are designed, manufactured, and hand-assembled in-house. The lens features a lightweight aluminum alloy construction, balancing durability with compact handling.

More images can be seen in Robbie Sumantri's review (of a prototype):
Definitely a character lens as expected, with the distinguishing characteristics being a persistent soft veiling flare, lots of personality in the bokeh (including bubble-like specular highlights, becoming petal-shaped stopped down), and soft transitions. The veiling flare seems quite nice with a warm character, as expected given the coatings. The lens has a long focus throw, which is important with a 75mm f/2 manual focus lens.
Why does the aperture ring go the "nikon way" and not the Leica way? Is the focus ring reversed too?
edit: all of the youtubers have copies that have a Lieca-type aperture ring, yet Jonas' product shots (which are the official product shots on the LLL site) have the Nikon-type ring. Am I having a stroke?

edit 2: are the product shots of a 50mm?
I just noticed this. It's strange that in the product shots the aperture ring is reversed, like you mentioned...Nikon or Elcan style!
That said, here are photos of the actual production models, both black and silver, and the aperture ring rotates the "correct" way.
Weird, upon further review it does indeed look like the Jonas photos are of a 50mm, but I could not find a 50 on their website with an aperture ring like that.

No disrespect to him at all, but who is Jonas? And where did you see images showing the ring going in reverse, other than in LLLs own product shots?
Like I said, the only place Im seeing the weird aperture ring is Jonass photos, which are also apparently the official photos for the lens, but they are actually photos of a 50mm lens. LLL uploaded the wrong ones, it would seem.

Perhaps. If in doubt just ask LLL directly instead of all this.
If it rotates opposite of my 50 SPII it is going back since the only LLL lens that does that to my knowledge is the 50/2.0 Elcan which matches the original Elcan haptics.

I wonder if it's just the first batch and LLL is producing more for the second.
I do hope so, Im still hesitant in the 35mm 1.4 AA but I was pretty interested in this one. I feel that their line-up has some serious shake-ups since the release of the AA, it looks like its a big success.
Anybody get an update on their preorder yet? Their blog said fulfillment would begin the 20th but I know how aspirational they can be with these things.
Hi craigkirk,
David from Light Lens Lab just responded to my email and said:
"All existing pre-order units should be done and shipped by the end of this month."
Hope that proves accurate.
