Thanks for the updates. I will look forward to use it.

Thanks for sharing, Alex!

We're excited to show what the M2RF can do. Seeing classic lenses paired with modern AF technology opens up some creative possibilities that weren't previously available.

For those curious about real-world performance, here's a quick sneak peek of the M2RF in action:

We're also happy to share that the M2RF is on track for a mid-July launch, with additional details, pricing, and availability information coming soon.

Got my pre-order in! Wonder when it will ship...

Megadap: I see your website hasn't been updated yet. Is there somewhere I can download the PC software?

Also: what is the lens weight limit?

Last email I got from Megadap was saying mid July... Megadap needs to give us an updated expected shipment date. Again they didn't answer my recent email regarding the shipping date. I saw online posts that Alex Phan has been testing it...

Yeah: Matt Granger did a video on it too with a lot of the details. I’m not angry about waiting, I’m just an impatiently excited guy 😁

I'm curious to hear what everyone is expecting when it comes to corner performance with this setup! How do you think the corners will hold up?

Megadap put up a bunch of videos on YouTube that linked to here: https://megadap.net/product/megadap-leica-m-to-canon-rf-autofocus-adapter-m2rf/ or found via their YouTube account. The page also highlights using adapters for other mounts to M (like FD; they show a video example with Minolta MD) to get AF on those other mounts. Definitely very intriguing.

This adapter is interesting to me for one reason... I could use it to adapt M42 lenses and gain AF, specifically my Zeiss 75/1.5 Biotar. Might be worth the price of entry just for that one lens.

"Ship in late July" per their website... Yes, it opens the Canon for all other mf lenses with other adapters, eg I can even use Sony A mount lenses...

User guide is posted also:
https://megadap.net/m2rf-manual/

- It is recommended to use lenses weighing no more than 500 grams. Overweight lenses may cause damage to the adapter.

R6 tear down at Kolari:
https://kolarivision.com/the-canon-eos-r6-disassembly-and-teardown/
"This filter measures in at 1.25mm thick, significantly thinner than the one in original EOS R which measured 1.6mm."

So mixed bag depending on the lens & camera combo:
https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1763008/

You can use Fred's M lens guide for Sony:

Given that AF is via a helicoid that moves the entire lens back and forth, it's likely going to negatively affect FLE lenses. I'm expecting it will degrade optical performance with such lenses when best image quality is the desired outcome. This is separate from image quality loss due to sensor stack differences with Canon's system compared to Leica M.

But it's a tradeoff. A lens like the 50 Lux ASPH, which is a floating element design, can be tricky to focus quickly wide open and AF could be beneficial. Wide open work will likely be less critical of edge sharpness degradation and if best image quality is required, the adapter can be locked to infinity and the lens manually focused (and I assume it will benefit from Canon's manual focus aid like the non-AF Shoten adapter that was recently released).

Just came in for a quick word...just received my M2RF. Finished setting up the profiles and tried my Elmar-M 24mm f/3.8 with it. AF worked like a charm. The motor is a bit noisy but it's expected. It's a shame that some of my M-mount lens are over the 500g limit.
Instruction for setting up the profiles is here.. .https://megadap.net/m2rf-manual/

Not many:

Noctilux-M 75mm f/1.25 ASPH: 1,055g
Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH: 700g
Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.0: 584g
Summilux-M 21mm f/1.4 ASPH: 580g

Time to consider Voigtlander and/or Thypoch Simera?

megadap,

Found a bug on my M2RF where it can not change lens data/profile with my R5 MKII. Press and hold the AF/MF button for 3s won't allow me to change the aperture value with the dial on the camera.

This issue only happens on my R5 MKII. On my original R5, everything works without problem.

I had sent an email to [email protected] yesterday and waiting for reply. Hopefully a firmware update is coming soon to fix this issue.

Best,
Simon

Update on the lens data/profile switching issue on R5 MKII.

Got an email from Megadap. They are aware of the issue. It affects both R1 and R5 MKII. There's is a temporary workaround in the meantime. Looking forward to a firmware update which solves the issue permanently.

Definitely watching the first reports here... my 75/1.5 Biotar is also (slightly) over the 500g "limit" as it is the later version, so it is 530g and I would need to add an M42 to Leica M adapter.

Joined the forum because of this thread! I just received the M2RF adapter I preordered from B&H; working on getting at least one lens next, as I’m brand new to M mount.

Got a review copy while abroad, so I’ve only tried it with one lens so far, the Leica 28mm on my Canon R8. Worked well, but I have to do a lot more testing with different cameras and lenses before I write something on my blog about it.
