Well, now we know why Tamron has annoyingly been putting exposed USB-C ports on the outside of their lenses...for THIS little wart.

This is for on the fly, in the field adjustments for some reason.

I purchased a bunch of small, USB-C port covers on Amazon. I know that 99.9999% of folks here have sworn that the exposed port is not a problem and is weather proof, but my experiences with similar port covers on cellphones has not been very positive. So, for my own peace of mind, I place a tiny plastic USB-C cap on the exposed ports of my Tamron lenses.

I think it’s meant for remote video controls. They showed a shooter video somewhere with focus pulls, limits etc.
