The first picture makes good use of the depth of field provided by the camera-lens combination.
The second is the one that brings classic portrait lighting and excellent use of the camera for contrast and resolution. I'm thinking a 40" print would really pop!
You are demonstrating in the third picture how the depth of field can be used to bring the subject right off the page.
