I shoot aperture priority + auto ISO + these were shot with 2 different lenses. What you described does not enter into my decision making during a shoot. I used to shoot manual and got sick of it for wildlife, I was missing too many shots.

That’s my point: if the light is constant and the subject remains in the same light, why use Aperture Priority with Auto ISO? Once you’ve chosen the aperture and shutter speed needed for the wildlife, manual exposure will keep them consistent regardless of whether the background changes from dark trees to bright snow. Shutter Priority is also an option if maintaining a specific shutter speed is the main concern. I’m not saying Aperture Priority won’t work—I’m asking what advantage it provides in this particular situation.
