p.1 #1 · First attempt at water droplets

I've been meaning to try this for a long while but never got up the ambition. Since we're still stuck in a deep freeze I figured today would be a good day.
OM-1 OM Systems 90 3.5 Macro Godox V860 lll
Thanks for taking a look !

My finger
I don't know how to shoot in Continuous with that flash on the OM body. Not sure if you can. So I set it to Single capture and just kept pressing the shutter trying to time it. Most of the shots were nothing but I managed to hit quite a few. The tough thing for me was getting the focus. I was watching a video by Christine Gregg last night and she placed a small glass in the pan and moved it till the drop hit the edge of the glass. Then I manually focused on the glass before removing it. Fun project !

Fantastic, very creative Gary. I'd be proud to have the 4th one printed and hanging in my home. Well done.

I can see having a lot of fun, and some frustration with this project. You did well here though. I'm liking them all but the fourth is a favorite.

Thanks Eric. Much more work to be done if I'm going to pursue this The colors were the biggest surprise for me. I have a bunch of these colored 5x7 cards that you can see in my very rudimentary setup. I wasn't expecting to get so much variation.
I need to figure out how to get more drama out of the splash.

I guess you won't need to go out for a few months now

A fun start to what can become addictive I presume So many variables come to mind for bg color set ups. What happens if you add oil to the water How do you 'slow' down the shutter/flash speed? What happens if there are glass rocks or marbles in the water tray?

By the way Gary, these are excellent!!

I think the variables are endless. I started out with oil in the water but that was giving me too many unwanted highlights. I was using 1/200 SS and then adjusting for proper exposure. I like the idea of marbles or rocks in the tray Thanks Karl

Gary, these are all well done. I love the varied colors you got using different backgrounds.

If you are really enjoying shooting water drops, you might want to consider the 'MIOPS Splash Pro' trigger set up.
It allows you to set the number and timing of drops and synch your flash with the drops. You can set up multiple, off camera flashes too.
I had one and enjoyed playing with it, but sold it and wished afterwards I had kept it.

I'll post a few of the shots I did with it in another post.

Great timing Greg. I'm just about to post my second attempt from today.
Appreciate the info and please post some of you if you can.
