p.1 #1 · Recommend body for mamiya sekor c 80mm f1.9

I current am in the Nikon z system. I would like to try out the mamiya 80mm f1.9 - could you suggest a camera body ideally digital with or without inverted teleconverter to go with it?

I’m really not familiar with medium format or vintage lenses, but I’m determined to try out this lens, so need some advice.

Thank!

Ideally you’ll want a Phase One / Mamiya AFD body and one of the full size or near full size digital backs. The Phase One XF has some compatibility issues with these lenses but earlier bodies should be fine.

Some older digital back options:
Phase One P45+ (1.1x crop)
Phase One P65+ (no crop)
Phase One IQ160 (no crop)
Phase One IQ180 (no crop)

A 645 DF Body and P45+ / P65+ back should cost between 2-3k€ these days.

Also note that those older digital backs suck at higher ISOs, so you need enough light. For low light situations without crop better to use film..

Heads up - the Mamiya 80 1.9 is prone to severe lens hazing, and the hazing is between the glued elements so cannot be cleaned.
i had a perfect condition one, always stored in a dry box and one day when I took it out to use was shocked to see it hazed up.

Good advice here. I have the 80mm you're determined to use. It's lovely. However, I use it on film.
