Hasselbad Lens Wishlist

p.1 #1 · Hasselbad Lens Wishlist

The discussions in the Hasselblad vs Fuji thread made me think of which lenses I would welcome from Hasselblad in the nearby future.

My thoughts:

  1. 1) 100-200mm zoom, long overdue in my opinion
  2. 2) 80mm f/1.9 Mk II, lighter than Mk I, keeping the unique rendering of Mk I, supporting the latest features
  3. 3) shallow DOF lens somewhere between 45m and 65mm, perhaps a 55m like the Fuji GF 55mm
  4. 4) 180mm f/2.8, similar to the Schneider-Kreuznach for Rolleiflex

Looking forward to other people's thoughs.

I’d really like to see Hasselblad offer native tilt-shift lens options, similar to Canon’s TS-E lineup. Given Hasselblad’s sensors and emphasis on image quality, dedicated tilt-shift lenses would feel like a strong complement to their existing lineup.

I’m with you although I might do the 2nd fast lens as a 63mm f 1.4. And if the long zoom could hit 240ish, I’d be very happy.

I’ll add a new fast focusing macro with the same optics as the original.

A 300mm.

A T/S 1.5x adaptor like they have for the H bodies.

A 120mm f2.5 would be very welcome. The 55mm f2.5 is indeed more special than the GFX counterpart. I have owned both and the later looks way more clinical.

I would also like to see a tele zoom.

I initially put 100-250 but reduced it to 100-200 due to weight concerns. I initially also had a 350mm in the list.

The macro is a good one as the original XCD 120mm macro lens no longer seems to be available.

I would also love something like the Zeiss Planar 110mm f/2.0 that used to be available for both Hasselblad and Rolleiflex.

Yeah I'm with SlowDriver on his list, a decent tele prime with a 2.8 aperture, and also a normalish fast lens. I say go big or go home, make it 1.4! My 55/1.2 Voigtlander ZF lens nearly covers, seems possible to make a 1.4 that is a little bit bigger that would fully cover.

It would also make sense to have a couple perspective control lenses, that being said, the Cambo Actus does exist so I suppose that's an option.

Oh, and they need a decent macro.

I think that a long telephoto would make sense, but I wouldn’t buy it because of size/weight. I would consider a replacement 1:1 XCD 120 Macro. My HC version II works great, but autofocus would be useful.

I agree with all the posters here. I guess the 100-200E would be at the top of my list at the moment. I had the 150 for my 500c/m, it was outstanding.

Update the 30/3.5 to a V style (optics can stay the same).

A compact (designed with the 907x in mind) prime between 100 and 150.

The obvious need is the tele-zoom to complete their "holy trinity." It'll probably be a 100mm-200mm, but it really should be a 100mm-250mm. I'd prefer a constant aperture, but it'll probably be variable, and not as fast as it should be.

An updated 80mm would be cool, but I'd also take a fast 65 (proper fast, not this F.2,5 nonsense) or fast 180mm. They need faster lenses. They need more interesting lenses. Tilt shift lenses would be sick.

I feel the branding and marketing at Hasselblad to be haphazard. It feels like the product plan started under one regime and is now being rethought on the fly by a new leadership group. Leica is so much better than them at this.

They can start by refining their lens categories.
The zooms should be in their Versatile category. What is more versatile than a zoom?
Their fastest lenses should be in their Exclusive category. I'd add the 90mm to this.
The compact ones in the Portable category. I'd put the 28, 38, 45, 55, and the 75 in this category. There is nothing particularly versatile about the 38, 55, or 90mm lenses.

When I was searching for Boryoza af rf adapter, I found the BORYOZA Fuji GF to Hasselblad XCD Lens adapter showing Fuji 50-500, 100-200mm, 55mm on Hasselblad:
