B&W is better, ask the color one doesn't add much with the sign coloring. But maybe the building should have been as dark as it is in the color one. just thinking...

But, are the croissants any good? Me like them normally, so I'd try.

Thank "Mich" For me it was all about the starkness of the building, its neon sign, the window reflections and the snow.

The overcast day provided some addtl non color. #1 is in color but just didn't "do it" for me.
Thanks!

A balmy 40F!

you are on the BW forum but to me the color pop is needed to add life to an otherwise flat image

Oh I agree Scott! And I beg your indulgence here...I added "tone" to the color image so one could see that is was not a monochrome but toned image.
Thanks!

The place was empty and no one in the bakery. So I could not sample their "wares"! I'll go back.

Maybe they don't care...? I checked and this is a review

"Stopped by with my wife after church on a Sunday. Display cases were 95%empty, although they did have Nutella croissant which she loved. Nothing for me , no cherry or apple anything. Not much for a bakery. And the main issue was no espresso "

This "place" is very new "Mich" I travel this road often and do much photography in and around the area. Just never noticed it until that day.

I parked in their parking lot, which was empty, to photograph the Barbara Fritchie House I posted a week ago.

It is actually "off the beaten path" for a bakery. The main street in town is abount 4 blocks away and that is where the "eateries" are located.

That is fine..the picture was good enough!
Thanks!

Greetings Dan,

If it were me, I would take another pass at the B&W conversion. What makes the color image pop is the darkness of the blue building against the snow. IN your B&W edit, the building is significantly lighter. I would try to go the other direction with the blue channels so it feels almost black. I think you'll see a more interesting B&W image. Maybe push the contrast a touch. You might have to go back and pull the highlights to save any detail in the snow. My two cents.

Thank you "Double K"!
I agree with your assessment of the conversion.

I will was "playing" with the b&w conversion and yes I found the darker the building the better..
Again appreciate your input!
Dan
