These ducks were flying into the only open fresh water in North East Queens which can be found at Oakland Lake as it's spring fed with nice warm 55f water. It was a very cold day and we have had way too many of them this winter and that's preventing the snow pack and ice from melting.

Nice grouping Morris, I like this style post.
Everything is a trade off... we get the hurricanes, you get Nor'Easters, etc. You freeze, we sweat. Right now I'm down to mowing only once a month and the grass is a little less green than in summer... oh the humanity.

in 70 years here in NYC I don't recall a cold spell like this. Lots of snow, yes that happens and it's pretty. As for the Hindenburg, that was a sad day.
Great shots Morris. You've picked a good spot for getting them on approach in nice light. I'd probably pick #2 as a slight favorite for the slightly better wing position, but they're all good and I still like Wood Ducks best
