Also Sony online gave me an estimate of $701 without even knowing what the problem was.

I need a repair on my A7CII battery door and got in touch with https://www.videoonerepair.com/ for a quote. They said they only use genuine Sony parts and promised a one week turnaround so I think I�ll use them rather than Precision or whoever is the official Sony repair people. I haven�t used them yet so I can�t recommend them per se, but they seemed friendly and informative with the quote.

Good idea, as Sony is not necessarily any better, plus a local repair shop can be better than shipping.
