Matti Sulanto expressed significant disappointment due to its malfunction in cold temperatures. The lens stopped working after only about 10 minutes in -15°C, displaying an error message and becoming unresponsive even after re-mounting or rebooting the camera. It only resumed functioning after warming up indoors.
The lens's cold sensitivity makes it impractical for shooting Northern Lights or starry night skies, which are best captured in cold weather.
He contacted Viltrox and Viltrox responded that the lens is only rated to work down to -10°C/14°F

Most first party gear is only rated to a certain level as well, past which it normally continues to work just fine.
This is one of the many reasons I wouldn't trust a third party lens with a mission critical job in tough conditions. My anecdotal experience is I've never had any brand's first party equipment fail me simply due to extreme cold (colder than 14, certainly).
