Well, I finally bit the bullet and sprang for the 40-150mm -- I waited way too long. This might be the sharpest lens I own, but definitely is the sharpest zoom I own.
I've been out shooting birds lately in some pretty low-light conditions and my trusty 100-400mm struggles because it's so optically slow -- so I thought I might be able to get some decent results using the 40-150mm w/MC-14 and at times adding the DTC to the mix.
This shot of our pup Ollie out back is the result of that combination -- resulting in a FF equivalent FOV of 840mm @ f/4. I look forward to getting it out for some bird shots.

Looks really good Greg. I'm going through the same thing right now. I got a quote from MPB swapping my OM-1 body (don't need to keep two bodies anymore) and some cash for the Pan-Leica 200 2.8. I just want something faster than my 100-400 in certain situations. I've got the body all packed up but I can't decide on the 200, the Pan 50-200, or the Olly 40-150. They're all about the same price if I go for the 200 w/o the converter.

Wish I had the spare funds right now to afford the OM 50-200mm f/2.8 -- that's got to be a terrifically versatile lens. But it's not in the cards at this point. The Pany lens was a consideration, but it doesn't take the OM TC's -- so that nixed that one for me. Plus I really am a zoom fan.
I have to say, I'm very, very impressed with the 40-150mm sharpness -- and the lens hood is very cool. I did order the Hoage tripod collar for it and boxed the stock collar, as I did not want to add an Arca Swiss plate to the tripod foot. The Hoage collar is well made and works perfectly.
The ultimate 'Grandpa' lens? I really am asking myself why I took so long to get this lens. I took it to my Grandsons' baseball games the other evening an had a blast -- it's and excellent sports lens.
