p.1 #1 · How much depreciation should I anticipate ?
I recently found this forum as i was looking for an a7c ii to replace my existing a7s to take my daughter's activities.
There was no a7cii available at the time, so i ended up purchasing an used one locally.
Then my old 24-70 gm lens was just not a good fit with the a7cii and I am trying to sell it to get other lenses for my need.
The issue is that, it had an impact and there is a front element glass damage (link) from years ago.
I still use the lens and has no impact on images, af, etc but more of the cosmetic issue.
How much price cut (us dollars or percentage) should I expect for the item ?
Id appreciate any comments
seems like i can't figure out how to add the link to the photos.
i added the where i also had posted about the issue (korean website)
Apparently, the hyperlink does not work here at all.. ( wonder if it is due to possible scam or etc).
I don't know if could copy the website address below and open in a new web brower tab and see them. .

One suggestion: take photos of the front of the lens without the filter and lens hood attached, so it will be easier to see exactly what the damage looks like.
That said, I think your price is probably a little high. Used samples in excellent condition have sold here for around $1,000.

thank you,
per what i have seen on the forum, excellent condition items tend to run between 1000~1200.
will try to see what i can get.
somehow i can't reply the post on my mobile device.
both with the filter and w/out the filter pictures are in the link.

The front glass assembly for the 24-70 GM costs ~$300. So call it a $500 repair. Subtract that from whatever the market value of a used, previous generation lens is.

Personally I would not want to deal with the repair if I’m looking to buy the lens, if it’s truly a $300 repair, I suggest he repairs the lens and sells it at the higher price with the disclosure the front element was repaired.

thank you all for the input.
the optics and everything works just fine and have been using it in that way for years now.
if I have to eat up the entire cost of the repair, (such as subtract up to 500 ) for the working lens, I may just consider to keep it (or repair them and sell them at the higher price instead).

Generally look at what B&H offers for the lens used in similar condition, and subtract around $200.

indeed, it probably should have been in a much better shape than I thought.
28-60 bundle lens, i received 160 dollar check, then
24-70 GM1, it got appraised at $910 even w/out the B+W filter. (i was selling the item all together for lower locally..). anyway done with 2 of 3, but just need to decide what to do w/ the 35 1.4 distagon zeiss....
Thank you all for your comments,
