The camera, A12 back, and WLF were purchased about 5 years ago from a long-time acquaintance whose dad bought it for him when he was in photography school (1970s I assume). His plan was to become a professional photographer, but that never happened. The camera sat in a box in his closet from when it was basically new until I talked him into selling it to me.

The condition is overall excellent, right down to the curtains not having any cracks. The chrome is in great shape, as is the leatherette. The waist level finder works well but has some kind of flaw (separation I think) in the magnifier eyepiece. I never noticed when using it, but you can see it in the right light, and I wanted to note it. The A12 back was serviced in 2021, after I bought it, as was the camera. I will include that receipt.

The camera comes with the standard focusing screen. When I purchased it, there was also a handle that mounts to the tripod socket, and I will include that as well.

The A12 back has matching serial numbers on the insert.

The waist level finder is in great cosmetic condition except on the back flap where it looks like something might have been stuck to it along the way and left sticker residue (or similar... not sure what it is). The photos below show the separation (or whatever it is) on the magnifying lens.

The included 80mm lens is very slow on the 1sec setting (more like 3.5 seconds), about .65 seconds at 1/2, and 1/3 on the 1/4 setting. It's accurate from 1/8 to 1/60. 1/125 is more like 1/105, 1/250 is about 1/200, and 1/500 clocks in at 1/300. All in all, I had great exposures since film is somewhat forgiving, and I didn't use 1 second.

The prism finder must have been acquired separate from the camera and had been beat up. It still works great (except metering), but you have to overlook the spot of fungus shown in the photos. The battery compartment has corrosion, and I don't know if that can be fixed for the metering to work (I didn't bother). This is a freebie if you purchase the camera because I don't want anyone disappointed in the condition.

The 150mm lens is in very nice shape, and the shutter speeds on it sound good, including the slower speeds. As with any lens this old, there is surely a little dust inside, but there is no fungus or significant haze. The front and back elements look good.

It DOES NOT come with the rear cap but DOES have a front cap. I know a couple photos show a rear cap, but I was using the one from the other lens to protect the rear element while taking photos. I will ship securely to ensure the rear element is not damaged in transit.

Price is $150. These are nice lenses but just don't seem to hold a lot of value.

The 50mm f/4 lens would normally be very desirable, and those in good condition seem to sell for $500 to $600. This isn't that.

I think I paid around $300, knowing it wasn't in excellent condition, but it's cosmetically somewhat worse than I anticipated. That said, I've shot a couple car shows with it and had good results because much of this stuff has little impact on the film results.

I've tried to show what looks like a couple small fungus spots on both the front and rear elements. Additionally, the front element has what might be coating damage and a couple deeper scratches. Again, images I took with it looked good, but I imagine there would be less contrast if using a digital camera rather than film. Some people would do this on purpose and call it "character".

Now the good news. Shutter speeds are very good. 1sec comes in at 0.82, and 1/2 sec is 0.4. Everything from 1/4 to 1/250 is either spot on or within 1/3rd stop. 1/500 measured 1/600 on my tester.

The A16 back is functionally great (I've gotten excellent results using it) but it's a bit less cosmetically. For its age, I couldn't complain. The gears and winding are very smooth, and I've had no light leaks. The insert and body have matching serial numbers.

The worst cosmetic flaw I could find it a pretty good ding in the metal at the top edge, which I had never noticed until taking photos. I've shown it close up in the photos, and it has zero impact on usability. Beyond that, it looks like someone put tape on the back of it along the way and left residue behind. This is stuff you never notice while out using it, until you start paying close attention to how pretty (or not) it is.

Last up are the acute matte focusing screen and bubble level.

The screen is very clean and much brighter and easier to focus vs. the standard focus screen. This is NOT the Acute Matte D, and I couldn't find any kind of exact model number. I've tried to photograph the pattern in the glass in case you're more of an expert in identifying. It also comes with a soft vinyl slip cover.

The bubble level is pretty much self describing and looks near new. It attaches to the side over the top of the piece that says "500C/M Made in Switzerland..." Overall, a pretty handy accessory.

Forgot this view in the original listing.
