p.1 #1 a whooper in with the sandhills
hello, everyone. i have not posted in a long time. 2025 was a long stressful year for me. 2026 is looking alot better. i recently was out at one of the places where i usually see sandhill cranes. we have had a dry fall and winter. there finally was enough rain so there was water to attract them better. i was taking some pictures of the sandhills as they were flying in and noticed something that really stood out from them. it was a single whooping crane. this was the first one i had seen in about three years. they are special birds to see as well as get pictures of. one thing i have noticed from the few times i have seen whooping cranes is the very noticeable leg bands they all have. it was a thrill to see one of them again. enjoy the pictures.

Really neat series, congrats on the whooper! Reminds me of the old kids song, one of these things isn't like the others, Heh.

Great find Wendall! I don't think I would have seen the Whooper mixed in with the Sandies. Congrats and hope '26 is a great year for you!
