Or are you another one that believes the US gave Greenland to Denmark?
Why would you think it is OK to attack a fellow FM member in a political way? This is a simple, polite, discussion about a camera feature. Politics are not relevant I consider such behavior a bit out of line.
But an even more essential feature missing in modern cameras is an ergonomic shooting experience when shooting from waist level - so separate focus and exposure buttons that are still a breeze to use when holding the camera near your hip. Sure, some cameras can be used that way today, but it is far from ergonomic.

It has to do with making baseless assumptions and claims. Perhaps people are getting fed up with this. Conversation is not polite when someone dismisses their concerns out of hand in an arrogant way and then starts making things up about the people they are communicating with. It reminded me of someone else who makes things up.

You talking about your own Political leader at this point who killed millions? Lets not talk politics- Especially if in a glass house-
Sorry you are so offended but we where talking about a depreciated feature that is back button autofocus-

Once again you make a careless, baseless assumption where you are completely wrong. I live in Germany, I am not German.
It would be very advisable for you to review your original, high-handed, and dismissive remarks in this thread, and think about the impression this could give. Then think about the baseless, unsubstantiated assumptions and claims you continue with, and think about your communication.

I think you would likely benefit more from the use a mirror than a button for focusing a Q3 Wolfoid. Just saying...
I just want to add that using the shutter release button (half press, etc.) in any way does not release the AF-L function. So functionally speaking, it's just toggle BBF vs hold BBF. You can split AF-L/AE-L or have them assigned individually to the top two customizable buttons near thumb position, so it was close enough for me when I needed that option though there is no BBF for AF-C.
It's true that BBF is largely unnecessary in modern cameras, but it can be very useful in specific or niche scenarios. For example the A9iii has essentially perfect AF but I used AF-ON often in high volume scenarios where I wanted to control maximum FPS rate in bursts for the most important range of moments. For some street and fixed distance portraiture techniques like Breziner the AF-L toggle is super useful since I need the plane of focus to not shift even when the main subject is out of the frame. I suspect factoring in all of this, Leica chose not to have a dedicated bigger BBF button with default decoupling.
I find BBF to be useful, but even if we don’t “need” it, I like it. We talk so much about the ergonomics, haptics and useability of cameras and since so many people prefer BBF, I feel it is neglectful for camera makers not to include the ability to have comfortable and useable BBF.
"The kind that results when you initiate attacks and involve politics. Surely you see how you started this don't you?"
No. And I think if you can be bothered to reread the thread with an open mind, nor will you.
I was making the point against making assumptions and just making things up. I used a current, famous example, which everyone would know (He happens to be a politician). You confused this with politics.
The comment I criticised above IS directly about politics and atrocities, and it accusing me of having a connection with that, that I don't have, which is on a completely different level.
I still use back button focus. Actually Fuji, Panasonic all give me the option to enable shutter AF during AFS AFC and use back button during manual focus mode, a mode I used all the time in field or travel with family. Shutter AF let camera decide focus point for people subject and BBF let me control it for landscape or cityscape. And both offer direct access for focus mode switch. Very handy.
Nikon prevent me set this up that you either disable shutter AF or BBF, you need dive in manual to change, a PITA to me. One of reason I sell Z8 instead of Panasonic S1Rii.
Sony RX1r3 also have a setting to do similar as this: only in manual mode, enable BBF. Shutter AF during AF mode.

I disagree with your characterization of your post. I recognized it immediately on reading it as political and posted that immediately. Your posts are absolutely responsible for this thread turning ugly. Your twists and turns to justify your bad behavior just don't hold up.
Take responsibility and maybe avoid such behavior in the future.
